Karunakaran Krishnamoorthy
Professor Krishnamoorthy has served as distinguished visiting professor
of Tamil and linguistics in several countries, advised numerous Ph.D. students, and published several books
as well as audio CDs for teaching and learning Tamil as a second language. His teaching methodology serves as
a benchmark for teaching Tamil as a second language. He has been an active participant in the Michigan Tamil
Sangam, whose mission is to “preserve and nurture the Tamil language, culture, and arts in Michigan,
in a unique social atmosphere." The Tamil Sangam was largely responsible for advocacy and financial support during
the first decade of Tamil instruction at University of
Michigan. Dr. Krishnamoorthy is currently working on several projects
related to Tamil teaching, dialect dictionary, Tamil poetry translations, and preparation of interactive digital
materials for teaching Tamil through the Web. Currently, Professor Karunakaran Krishnamoorthy teaches Tamil Language and Culture
in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Michigan, USA.

Anvita Abbi
Anvita Abbi is a Professor of
Linguistics at the Centre of Linguistics and English at Jawaharlal Nehru University,
New Delhi, India.
She is a zealous field linguist who has worked extensively on Indigenous and tribal languages of India. Professor Abbi served as a Visiting Scientist in 2000 and 2003 at the Max
Planck Institute, Leipzig, Germany and was
nominated as a Distinguished Scholar in 2001 by the Language Typology
Research Center, La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia.
She has recently been nominated an honorary member of the Linguistic Society of America. At present Prof.. Abbi is one of
the members of the Board of Directors of Terralingua, and advisor to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO) on language issues. She received the Rarashtriya Lokbhasha Samman in 2003 for her contribution towards
the tribal languages of India. Prof.
Abbi is also the author of nine books and approximately 50 articles in various research journals.

Shalinee Gusain
Shalinee has been conducting research for the last fifteen
years on different spectra of the issues related with women and gender in South Asia. She has also worked as a research assistant
in many prominent organizations in India. Some of them are: Deccan Development society at Hyderabad, National Literacy Mission
at New Delhi, Indian Institute of Public Administration at New Delhi, and Indian Adult Education Association at New Delhi.
She has also been an active member of Center for Education for Women, the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, USA. Currently,
she is affiliated with DCPS, Washington, D.C.
